In addition to the NSE Core, Optional Modules and User Count Upgrades are available to provide functionality enhancements allowing the NSE to scale as your network grows.

  • The NSE is a collection of patented and patent-pending software modules written in C++
  • The NSE is modular, allowing our customers flexibility in determining the components they need in order to address their targeted market segments
  • The NSE is scalable to support thousands of users concurrently and can be embedded in a wide variety of memory and processor architectures

NSE Core

Customer Acquisition
Nomadix’ patented Dynamic Address Translation™ (DAT) technology offers a true “plug-and-play” solution that provides a hassle-free connectivity service with Zero Configuration to the client

DAT can perform standard Network and Port Address Translation and supports Application Level Gateways (ALGs) for protocols such as FTP and H.323.

The NSE automatically learns the user’s browser proxy settings (Host Name, IP Address, and port) to become their proxy server for necessary traffic only.

Service Presentment
The patented Home Page Redirect (HPR) function of the NSE intercepts the browser’s home page setting and redirects it to a new portal page determined by the administrator. Redirection capabilities are offered, pre and post authentication as well as at session termination.

The NSE drives a patented HTML-based page called the Information and Control Console (ICC) down to each user’s Internet browser providing them with the ability to self-select services and upgrade their bandwidth and billing options in real-time.

The NSE supports IEEE 802.1q VLANs or an SNMP Manager to query the Bridge MIB (RFC 1493) to determine the physical location of the user.

Multimode Authentication
Simultaneously supports authentication mechanisms using the browser based model over SSL, IEEE 802.1x and proprietary methods used by various Smart Clients from companies such as Boingo Wireless, iPASS and GoRemote.

The Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) functions of the NSE offer various tracking, billing and security features for Web based self-provisioning and includes advanced WISPr-compliant RADIUS client and proxy functionality.

Unauthenticated users can have access to as many as 300 IP pass-through addresses allowing the NSE to create a “Walled Garden” within the Internet.

The NSE can also block up to 300 IP addresses or DNS entries from access by users.

An available XML Application Programmer’s Interface (API) allows the NSE  to securely accept and process XML commands from an external source for integration with OSS, provisioning, and other network management elements. XML Communication is made secure via an SSL link.

Session Management
The patent-pending iNAT feature creates an intelligent mapping of IP Addresses and their associated VN tunnels for providing seamless VPN connectivity for users at the HotSpot.

Supports WPA / WPA2 / WEP.

Session Rate Limiting (SRL) and MAC Filtering capabilities significantly reduce the risks of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

Supports Lawful Intercept tracking logs.

Policy-based Traffic Shaping
The Bandwidth Management feature of the NSE can place limits on bandwidth usage symetrically and asymmetrically on a per user basis.

The NSE can also be set to manage the WAN Link traffic, providing complete bandwidth management over the entire network.

NSE Modules

Optional NSE Modules can be added to the NSE Core to support vertical billing and other applications or add enhanced functionality. NSE Modules can be purchased at any time allowing the NSE to grow as your network evolves.

1. Hospitality Module - AG 3xxx/5xxx
Provides the most extensive range of Property Management System (PMS) interfaces to enable in-room guest billing for high-speed Internet access (HSIA).

This module also includes a 2-way PMS interface for in-room billing in a Wi-Fi network plus support for PMS billing via a TCP/IP connection to select PMS interfaces.  Bill mirroring of records to multiple destinations is also provided within this module.

2. Credit Card - AG 2xxx/3xxx/5xxx
Enables billing by credit card over a secure SSL link to a variety of credit card transaction processors. Bill mirroring of records to multiple destinations is also provided within this module.

This module can be used alone to porvide a direct means of customer billing without the need of an on-site billing system

 3. High-Availability - AG 2xxx/3xxx/5xxx
Fail-Over functionality provides expanded network uptime and service availability by allowing o secondary Nomadix Access Gateway to take over if the primary device should fail

4. Routed Subscriber- AG 5500
Provides additional flexibility in architecting your network by configuring an NSE enabled Access Gateway to support Layer 3, WAN, MESH and other routed networks on the subscriber or network side of the Nomadix gateway.

 5. Quality of Service (QoS) - AG 3100/5500
Acts as a network resource reservation control mechanism.  It allows subscriber traffic data packets to be classified and marked so they can be acted upon to provide different prorities or guarantee a certain level of performance based on policies.
 6. Virtual Access Points - AG 2100
This module provides the capability to host multiple logical wireless networks on a single physical device.

Additional descriptive information on the modules is contained in the following flyers:

NSE Bundles

1. Metro Bundle - AG 5500

This item is a special factory part number which configures the AG 5500 and packages the Routed Subscriber, High Availability and Credit Card modules with user count upgrades to create an AG 5500 Metro gateway that supports up to 4000 users.
